Executive Director of Clinical Governance, Hunter New England Local Health District
Melissa is responsible for establishing, directing and managing the Local Health District (LHD) Clinical Governance function to promote and support patient safety and clinical excellence within health services and provide high-level expert advice to the Chief Executive on all clinical governance issues.
Melissa holds a Master of Nursing (Clinical Leadership), a Postgraduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing, a Graduate Certificate in Stomal Therapy Nursing, and completed the Clinical Practice Improvement Course in 2006. She is an Honorary Associate (Clinical Fellow), at the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, University of Technology, Sydney.
Melissa has worked in a variety of roles associated with quality, safety, and risk management for the past 11 years. She was previously employed as Manager, Quality Systems, Hunter New England LHD. Prior to this she was employed as Quality Manager, CPI at St Vincent’s Health Network, Sydney. In 2009 she was the Senior Policy Analyst - Clinical Risk, Quality and Safety (NSW Health) and worked on the Between the Flags and the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) Programs.
