Queensland’s HealthPathways teams got together to provide a significant presence at the region’s inaugural myPHN 2016 conference.
Organised by the North Queensland Primary Health Network, the event took place over 9-10 July in Cairns. More than 300 delegates participated in the conference, which provided opportunities for healthcare providers to participate in breakout workshops about “connecting general practice to make health better”.
The HealthPathways teams from Mackay, Townsville, and Cairns hosted a trade stall together at the conference and gave a presentation that provided health professionals who attended the event an introduction to HealthPathways.
Talking HealthPathways: Mackay Clinical Editor Dr Aaron Kennedy presents at Queensland's inaugural myPHN 2016 conference.
“It was a great opportunity to present at a conference dedicated to connecting general practice and to be explaining a tangible solution to many of the common issues raised," Mackay Clinical Editor Dr Aaron Kennedy says.
Titled HealthPathways: The Future, the presentation saw Aaron joined onstage by Mackay Coordinator Toni Simmons, Townsville Coordinator Alison Berigan, and Cairns Coordinator Sarah Ludwick.
Toni says both the presentation and the stall were a great success for all three teams.
“In the presentation we gave delegates an overview of HealthPathways and insight into the pathways we’ve developed, the opportunities we’ve found being part of the HealthPathways community, and how we’ve integrated with each other for greater collaboration.
“And the trade exhibition area, where we had our stall, provided great opportunities for networking across professions and regions.”
The Mackay, Townsville, and Cairns HealthPathways teams are currently collaborating to establish strong cross regional partnerships. They attend regular integrated team meetings to share their insights from developing each site, as well as work together on other projects such as a patient information portal and the Queensland Clinical Prioritisation Criteria.
