On Thursday 5 July 2018, the ACT & Southern NSW HealthPathways team celebrated publishing 400 pathways at an event held at the Capital Health Network – ACT PHN.

Representatives from all four partnering organisations joined with other health professionals, consumers and the ACT & Southern NSW HealthPathways team to celebrate the milestone.

Since its launch, over 400 pathways have now been localised through a partnership between COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN, Capital Health Network – ACT PHN, ACT Health, and Southern NSW Local Health District (LHD).  With close to 2000 registered users across the region, ACT & Southern NSW HealthPathways has grown considerably since launched its live website in April 2015.

Dr Janet Watterson, SNSW GP Clinical Lead, explained: “HealthPathways is a free, online health information website used by GPs, specialists, nurses and allied health practitioners to provide the most appropriate management and treatment options for medical conditions. The pathways also contain information on how to refer patients to the most appropriate local services and specialists.”

“HealthPathways helps to improve and standardise primary care management and is a great example of integration between health service providers in our region,” said Dr Watterson.

Dr David Gregory, ACT GP Clinical Lead added, “Health consumers across the ACT and Southern NSW areas also benefit from being referred first time to the most appropriate service(s) to meet their clinical need. This makes an enormous difference to overall health outcomes and reduced waiting times.”
