Dr Michelle Crockett Receives OAM for Service to Medicine
The HealthPathways Community congratulates Dr Michelle Crockett on being awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours List, for her devoted service to medicine.
Dr Crockett grew up on the Northern Beaches and completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney. As a junior doctor, she spent time at Westmead, Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. Since then she has also developed an interest in mental health and has completed extra training including delivering focused psychological strategies.
"I feel very honoured to receive this award. It is a great privilege to be a GP and share my patients’ journey through life. I am very fortunate to work with a team of people who share my passion for providing holistic patient care and teaching the next generation - medical students, nursing students and GP registrars. I love going to work every day, being able to help people and make a difference," said Dr Crockett.
Michelle has worn many hats in her profession. Not only has she been a co-principal of Riverstone Family Medical Practice for a decade, and a fellow at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, she is also president of Nepean Medical Association, a member of the steering committee for Primary Mental Health Care and GP Psychiatric Liaison Service at WentWest. Furthermore Michelle’s hard work and dedication for medicine has allowed her to be a senior GP Clinical Editor for HealthPathways Western Sydney.
WentWest Acting CEO, Brendan Peek extended his congratulations to Dr Crockett on behalf of the organisation.
“WentWest is thrilled to see Dr Crockett honoured with an OAM. She has been delivering dedicated, quality care to Western Sydney for 30 years, and we are very lucky to work closely with her as a HealthPathways Clinical Lead and Senior GP Clinical Editor. Her contribution to health care across Western Sydney has made a tangible difference to the community and we look forward to supporting her for many years to come.”
