A message to the HealthPathways Community from Ian Anderson
Following my announcement in September that we’ll be seeking a new Chief Executive to lead Streamliners through its next phase of development, I’m thrilled to announce the appointment of Stella Ward as the company’s new chief executive.
This marks an exciting transition for Streamliners: recruiting a new CEO was one part of our plans to take Streamliners and the HealthPathways Community to new levels of innovation, capability, and partnership in pursuit of our purpose "to improve the health and wellbeing of people around the world".
We had many great candidates from several countries. Stella Ward is an outstanding fit for the role and I’m delighted she has agreed to be our new CEO. Stella’s knowledge of health systems, leadership skills, focus on delivery, and digital experience are ideal attributes to ensure Streamliners delivers the innovation and performance needed by the HealthPathways Community now and well into the future. Stella starts with us on Monday 11 December 2023, and will work with me for the coming few months as she gets to know the wider community.
We'll share this news with local media in the coming days.

About Stella
Considered one of New Zealand’s most highly visible and well regarded digital health leaders, Stella Ward has held multiple executive leadership roles within the public sector, which includes a ten year stint at the Canterbury District Health Board as Executive Director Allied Health and then Chief Digital Officer. Most recently, she has been leading the Pointnext Sales and Services team at Hewlett Packard Enterprise NZ.
Stella says, “I am excited to be appointed as the new CEO for Streamliners building on the strong foundations established by Ian and Emma. The company is a growing multinational company headquartered here in Canterbury and I believe it is a natural next step for me in my career where I can bring my clinical, executive and digital skills to deliver on our purpose.”
“Healthcare and education are two strong passions of mine which make the role of CEO of Streamliners one that aligns with my passions and my values of serving communities to improve their wellbeing. I am passionate about making a difference and have a reputation as a leader who can execute the strategy and deliver outcomes. An integrated health system is not only more cost effective and efficient, but it also delivers better health outcomes with improved, timely access to the right care at the right time for the population.”
Thank you for choosing to be part of the HealthPathways Community and for playing an important part in leading global health system change.
I know that you’ll all join me in welcoming Stella to the role.
