In November, Dr Dru Norriss joined the HealthPathways Community in a new role that will oversee several clinical evidence projects.
As Project Officer - Clinical Evidence Systems Development, Dru will focus on improving the flow of evidence and innovation within the HealthPathways Community. Initially, he’ll be developing ways to bring evidence into practice and integrate an online referencing system with HealthPathways.
Dru describes the role as a rare and fantastic opportunity:
“I’m looking forward to contributing to a whole system that influences the care of millions and supports the work of thousands of healthcare workers across Australasia.”
The role fits in well with Dru’s professional training, which includes studying music at CPIT in Christchurch as well as a medical degree (MB ChB) from the University of Otago, based in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Nelson.
“I believe this contrast gives me strength in understanding the intangible, people-centric side of a project like HealthPathways while simultaneously appreciating the technical needs of doctors and other end users. I've always had a strong interest in community and public health, which dove-tails with the whole-of-system thinking needed for development of HealthPathways.”
While HealthPathways Community Chief Clinical Editor, Graeme McGeoch created the position to bolster collaboration on clinical evidence and innovation within the HealthPathways Community, Dru anticipates his involvement in HealthPathways will grow and expand into other areas.
“Everything is still in development, so I'd love to hear any thoughts and suggestions anyone has. I'm looking forward to meeting many members of the HealthPathways community over the coming months.”
