The Northland HealthPathways Team have pulled out all the stops since they launched last November and have already localised nearly 40 pathways in just four months.
Subjects as varied as dermatology, endocrinology, gynaecology, haematology, neurology, and older person’s health have all been included in the mix to give Northland HealthPathways a sturdy base of localised content to grow from.
The Northland District Health Board provides acute services to a patient popultion of over 160,000 through four hospitals, based at Whangarei, Dargaville, Kawakawa and Kaitaia, with elective surgery performed at Whangarei and Kaitaia.
This is supplemented by a network of community-based outpatient and mental health services, a range of allied health services and a public health unit, with specialist services like radiation treatment and rheumatology services provided from Auckland or through visiting specialists travelling to Northland.
