Wraps coming off HealthPathways Directory in July

Published on 05 May, 2016 | Return|

Self-management of provider information within referral and request pages is just over the horizon as the pilot phase of the HealthPathways Directory comes to an end.

The HealthPathways Directory is a new online feature in Dot that will allow coordinators to directly update the provider information presented on their referral and request pages.

Streamliners recently completed a five-month pilot and testing phase with Hunter and New England PHN.  Findings from the pilot are now being incorporated into the design and core functionality of Phase 1 of the HealthPathways Directory product.

Phase 1 launches in July

Service Delivery Manager Matt Sinclair says the Phase 1 release of the HealthPathways Directory is on course for July, with future updates planned to enhance functionality.

“Phase 1 will focus on core provider service and contact details currently being presented in HealthPathways request pages. The aim is to enable regions to self-manage lists of providers and their contact details, and have the ability to import and export structured lists of providers.

“Future phases will support richer directory information and integration with other systems such as e-referral systems and national directories.”

From July, regional HealthPathways teams will be able to start working with their technical writers to set up their request or referral page templates and begin inputting provider information into the HealthPathways Directory. Team members learning how to use the new system will be supported by training modules and instructional documentation published on the Online Help website.

Implementation considerations

The HealthPathways Directory will be available free-of-charge to HealthPathways Community members.

Members can either apply the functionality as they localise and review request and referral pages going forward, or fully retrofit the directory to manage existing provider lists in HealthPathways.

However, members will need to consider the potential impact that implementing the HealthPathways Directory will have on current localisation progress, the volume of provider information to be initially entered and then maintained, and whether they have sufficient resources available to self-manage it via the HealthPathways Directory.

To support member regions, Streamliners will offer data entry services at an appropriate hourly rate, on request from July.
