Canterbury gets healthy dose of the Gullery factor – trust

In this month's NZ Doctor Newspaper, Liane Topham-Kindley talks to Carolyn Gullery, who she describes as the “energiser bunny” and both a successful health bureaucrat and an unlikely one:

"Mention Canterbury DHB to anyone who has followed the organisation’s eventful recent history, and the name Carolyn Gullery will come up.

The DHB’s name lost some of its shine recently, with its government-appointed board chair Murray Cleverley stand­ing down (see Dispatches, page 6). But it was business as usual for the irrepressible Ms Gullery, the general manager planning, funding and decision support.

Surely the best known of her ilk across the 20 DHBs, she has addressed numerous audiences all over the country, and inter­nationally, on how the DHB has changed almost all of its old as­sumptions and trends."
